Android icon has white border on Pixel 3XL - android

I'm trying to implement a launcher icon for an Android app. I'm using Android Studio's New Image Asset capability to create the icon from an image file and it works in most places except for the later Pixels.
On the Pixel 3XL, it looks like the following figure. The icon with a round white border around it.
On the Pixel 2, it looks the same
But on an original Pixel, it looks right:
I created the icon assets using the Android Studio New Image Asset capability. Selecting the image icon as shown in the following figure:
Then I set the background to the background color for the icon:
Based on what the UI shows, the icons all look right and Android Studio is supposed to generate the right files for all target platforms. Can someone please help me understand what I need to do to get rid of that white border on later phones?

You should add ic_launcher_foreground.xml and ic_launcher_background.xml to drawable file in your project. As far as I get it, you've try to make red background then add red backgorund layout you have only foreground image in this way. Btw that is not a bug that is a feature :)

How to make android app icon display correctly?

I have tried changing different settings, using different image sizes and using different image shapes but nothing has worked. Do I need to add a version with rounded corners to my android studio file?
Right click on drawable folder > new > image asset.
In the asset studio it will automatically generate the app icon shape, you just have to pick your transparent logo on the foreground layer and pick the white color on the background layer. So no need to provide rounded corners version

Android launcher icon has rough edges

So my tablet recently updated to Android 7.1.1, and I noticed that my app's icon looked like hot garbage with the new adaptive icon scheme. I updated things via Android Studio's Image Asset Studio, and it's better, but I'm noticing the edges of the squared circle look kind of ragged/jagged/rough. Here's how it looks compared to Twitter and Firefox. Any suggestions as to how I can get the edges of mine to look as smooth as those?
EDIT: For what it's worth I still see the same rough edges if I use an image or plain color as the background, and they even show up with the stock ic_launcher icon.
You Change the Shape here in Image Assest
So it turns out that the image asset tool in Android Studio is creating the problem - it leaves transparent edges around the generated icons. And then when it's rendered on the device, Android rescales things as a result, which leads to the indistinct edges on the icons. What worked for me was to go back in and fill in the transparent areas by hand so that the background extends all the way out to the edges of the .png files.

Asset Studio in Android Studio; Square not working

I'm using Android Studio 2.2.1 with Mac OS 10.11.6.
I'm adding the ic_launcher-icon with control click>New>Image Asset. I usually take Shape: Square. That makes the corners rounded like an iOS icon.
But suddenly it doesn't work. It looks like this:
Also trying to use Shape: Circle doesn't work. It's still as before. But you can see a shadow of a circle on the icon:
When running the app the icon is as in the Asset Studio. That means it's not only a worn Asset Studio display.
I also removed Android Studio with AppCleaner and reinstalled it, but without success.
Does anybody know what I can do?
According to: Create Circular Launcher Icon it might be Android Studio bug, try to use Android Asset Studio instead to generate circular launcher

Hope it will help
So the observation I just had on the Android Studio Image Asset Studio, the shape you are talking about is just for the background image. That is, if you have a .png image with transparent background, you can use this shape option to create your icon with custom background of desired shape and color. But if your image is beyond the scope of the background shape, then it will be useless. Like in your case, since your image is full square, the background doesn't make sense.
In short, the shape option is for background but not for image

How can i convert an image to notification icon to use in android app?

I have tried built in tools in android studio using res -> new -> Image Asset and then selecting notification icon. But after selecting the images it shows some grey and black boxes and not image icon and doesn't show in notifications as well.
I have researched and found that image background should be transparent for it to work but that didn't work also. Also i have tried images of 24x24 size as recommended but couldn't get the icon working in my android app.
Thanks in advance for any useful suggestions.
For v21 and above--> In notification icon, only white and transparent colors are allowed. Use white color what u want to show, rest part make it transparent.
For v20 and below --> You can use any image with proper dimensions.

why is my ic_launcher icon smaller than GooglePlay App's icons?

I have following issue, am developing an App for Android and I realise that the launch icon AKA ic_launcher is quite smaller than al the rest of the App that I got from GooglePlay.!see image below.. I tried as normal (on eclipse: new->android icon-set->....) using a 512x512 png file, then I gave a 2nd try using a recommended link I found by searching a solution (Android Asset Studio)
you may want to say " is not tooo much" but that is what I need, must be the same size as normal apps...
thanks in advance!
see the dotted line as reference to verify the size
Just create icon 512x512px without any generators, they add margins to a picture. You have to draw icon from border to border.
Use an existing application icon as a template, for example - mine
