Keep widget below the statusbar - android

is there a way to make sure that a widget keeps underneath the quick menu on android.
At the moment I do it in a kind of dirty way with a padding parameter, I hope there is a better solution.
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Container(
padding: EdgeInsets.only(top: 22.0),
color: Color(0xff757575),
child: Container(
padding: EdgeInsets.all(20.0),
decoration: BoxDecoration(
color: Colors.white,
borderRadius: BorderRadius.only(
topLeft: Radius.circular(30.0),
topRight: Radius.circular(30.0),
),
),
child: Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.stretch,
children: <Widget>[
buildHeader(),
Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.only(left: 40.0, right: 40.0),
child: TextField(
// cursorColor: Colors.red,
maxLines: null,
textAlign: TextAlign.left,
autofocus: false,
style: TextStyle(
fontSize: 20.0,
),
decoration: InputDecoration(
hintText: "Add title",
border: InputBorder.none,
),
),
),
Divider(
color: Colors.black,
),
SizedBox(
height: 20.0,
),
TimeAndDateCard(),
EventEntryCard(
label: 'Add Location',
icon: Icon(Icons.place),
onLongPress: () {
showSearch(delegate: LocationSearch(), context: context);
},
),
EventEntryCard(
icon: Icon(Icons.people),
label: 'Invite people ',
),
EventEntryCard(
icon: Icon(Icons.attachment),
label: 'Add attachment',
),
EventEntryCard(
icon: Icon(Icons.work),
label: 'Status',
),
],
),
),
);
}
}
layout without padding
Wished layout. Container is underneath the statusbar

Wrap your Container with SafeArea and it will do the magic for you..
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return SafeArea(
child: Container(),
);
}
Hope it answers your question..

How to add vertical spacing to widgets Flutter

I have a piece of code here which makes up the body of the login and register screens. Everything is in the position i want but i would like to space them out a little. The two input fields, title, subtitle, button and textbutton are too close together vertically.
I tried to use mainaxisalignment.spacebetween but i get a constraint error and everything i have on the screen disappears afterwards except the background.
The body used by the register and login screen:
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
backgroundColor: Colors.transparent,
body: Container(
decoration: BoxDecoration(
gradient: LinearGradient(
begin: Alignment.topLeft,
end: Alignment.bottomLeft,
colors: [Color(0xFF1F1F1F), Color(0xFF1F1F1F)],
),
image: DecorationImage(
image: AssetImage("lib/assets/images/register.png"),
alignment: Alignment.topCenter,
),
),
child: Stack(
children: [
Container(
decoration: BoxDecoration(
image: DecorationImage(
image: AssetImage('lib/assets/images/bottomleft.png'),
alignment: Alignment.bottomLeft,
),
),
),
Container(
decoration: BoxDecoration(
image: DecorationImage(
image: AssetImage('lib/assets/images/toptop.png'),
alignment: Alignment.topRight,
),
),
),
Container(
decoration: BoxDecoration(
image: DecorationImage(
image: AssetImage('lib/assets/images/topbig.png'),
alignment: Alignment.topCenter,
repeat: ImageRepeat.repeat),
),
),
Container(
decoration: BoxDecoration(

alignment: Alignment.topCenter,
repeat: ImageRepeat.repeatX),
),
),

}
the login screen:
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return ViewModelBuilder<LoginScreenModel>.reactive(
builder: (context, model, child) => Scaffold(
body: AuthenticationLayout(
busy: model.isBusy,
onCreateAccountTapped: () {},
//validationMessage: model.validationMessage,
title: 'SIGN IN',
subtitle: 'please fill the form below',
mainButtonTitle: 'SIGN IN',
form: Column(
children: [
TextField(
decoration: InputDecoration(
hintText: 'Username',
hintStyle: TextStyle(color: Colors.white),
prefixIcon: const Icon(
Icons.person,
color: Colors.white,
),
),
),
TextField(
decoration: InputDecoration(
hintText: 'Password',
hintStyle: TextStyle(color: Colors.white),
prefixIcon: const Icon(
Icons.lock,
color: Colors.white,
),
),
),
],
),
onForgotPassword: () {},
),
),
viewModelBuilder: () => LoginScreenModel(),
);
}
}
Column(
children: <Widget>[
FirstWidget(),
SizedBox(height: 100),
SecondWidget(),
],
),
You should Add SizedBox() in between two Widgets, or Set Padding to your widgets or you use Container also like below:
Using SizedBox()
Column(
children:[
Widget 1(),
SizedBox(height:10),
Widget 2(),
SizedBox(height:10),
Widget 3(),
],
),
Using Padding()
Column(
children:[
Padding(
padding:EdgeInsets.all(8.0)
child: Widget 1(),
),
Padding(
padding:EdgeInsets.all(8.0)
child: Widget 2(),
),
Padding(
padding:EdgeInsets.all(8.0)
child: Widget 3(),
),
],
),
Using Container()
Column(
children:[
Container(
padding:EdgeInsets.all(8.0)
child: Widget 1(),
),
Container(
padding:EdgeInsets.all(8.0)
child: Widget 2(),
),
Container(
padding:EdgeInsets.all(8.0)
child: Widget 3(),
),
],
),
You should use padding on your choice like:
EdgeInsets.all(8.0),
EdgeInsets.only(left:8.0,top:8.0,right:8.0,bottom:8.0),
EdgeInsets.symmetric(vertical: 8.0,horizontal:8.0),
You may add some SizedBox() between or set margin to the components.
Use SizedBox widget to add vertical spacing to your widget.
For e.g
SizedBox(height: 16),

Container text and icons alignment- need to align this icon to right of this container

I need to make this favourite icon to the right of the container. I can use padding but is it ok? I mean is it going to work with all devices. Is there any solid way to align these 3 containers? I made a list view because I am adding more stuff like this one. can you guys help me with this?

),
],
),
),
);
}
}
In the Row try to use and Expanded widget like this
Row(
children: [
Expanded(
child: Row(
children: [
Container(
color: Colors.blue,
margin: EdgeInsets.all(2),
child: Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(8.0),
child: Text(
'3:32',
style: TextStyle(fontSize: 20),
),
),
),
Container(
color: Colors.red,
child: Text(
'Order 1',
style: TextStyle(fontSize: 20),
),
),
],
),
),
Container(
color: Colors.amber,
child: Icon(Icons.favorite),
)
],
)

Why i gonna null of the String in Flutter?

I have a problem with a simple thing but I don't how is it happening in the code.
Below is the code:
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
String newTaskTitle;
return Container(
color: Color(0xff757575),
child: Container(
padding: EdgeInsets.all(20.0),
decoration: BoxDecoration(
color: Colors.white,
borderRadius: BorderRadius.only(
topLeft: Radius.circular(20.0),
topRight: Radius.circular(20.0),
),
),
child: Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.stretch,
children: <Widget>[
Text(
'Add Task',
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
style: TextStyle(
fontSize: 30.0,
color: Colors.lightBlueAccent,
),
),
TextField(
autofocus: true,
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
onChanged: (newText) {
newTaskTitle = newText;
},
),
FlatButton(
child: Text(
'Add',
style: TextStyle(
color: Colors.white,
),
),
color: Colors.lightBlueAccent,
onPressed: () {
print(newTaskTitle);
},
),
],
),
),
);
}
I try to get the value of the text field input and pass it to another screen but when I type something then press the button, it gives me the null.
You can also achieve this using controllers. just initialize one and specify the controller in the TextField widget. To access the text, just do _controlller.text as you can see below:
final _controller = TextEditingController();
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: Container(
color: Color(0xff757575),
child: Container(
padding: EdgeInsets.all(20.0),
decoration: BoxDecoration(
color: Colors.white,
borderRadius: BorderRadius.only(
topLeft: Radius.circular(20.0),
topRight: Radius.circular(20.0),
),
),
child: Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.stretch,
children: <Widget>[
Text(
'Add Task',
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
style: TextStyle(
fontSize: 30.0,
color: Colors.lightBlueAccent,
),
),
TextField(
controller: _controller,
autofocus: true,
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
),
FlatButton(
child: Text(
'Add',
style: TextStyle(
color: Colors.white,
),
),
color: Colors.lightBlueAccent,
onPressed: () {
print(_controller.text);
},
),
],
),
),
),
);
}
You have defined String newTaskTitle inside the build() method try removing it from inside the build method and try defining it inside the StatefulWidget.
This is happening because TextField on change method calls build() method every time the text is changed

Flutter :- Inside the PageView Image is not setting to fit the screen on width?

I am using the PageView for the view-pager functionality and showing the image on each page with contains some text and button on each page.
As I am using the Stack widget for putting the view on one another like Relative-layout in Android, But My Image on the First Page of the PageView is not set to fit on the screen
I have tried the below solution like below
1).First link
2). Second Link
But not getting the proper solution, I have tried the below lines of code for it,
class MyTutorialScreen extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
// TODO: implement build
return Material(
child: PageIndicatorContainer(
pageView: PageView(
children: <Widget>[
Stack(
//////ON THIS SECTION I AM GETTIG PROBLEM
children: <Widget>[
Container(
/////// NEED THE SOLUTION ON THIS SECTION
color: Colors.yellow,
child: Image.asset('images/walkthrough_1.png',
fit: BoxFit.fitWidth),
),
Positioned(
top: 40.0,
right: 40.0,
child: InkWell(
onTap: () {
print("HERE IS I AM");
},
child: Text(
"SKIP",
style: TextStyle(color: Colors.white),
),
)),
Positioned(
bottom: 48.0,
left: 10.0,
right: 10.0,
child: Column(
children: <Widget>[
Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(16.0),
child: Text(
"Welcome",
style: TextStyle(
fontSize: 20.0,
color: Colors.white,
fontWeight: FontWeight.bold,
),
),
),
Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(16.0),
child: Text(
"To The Ravindra Kushwaha App. \n One tap Club Destination !",
style: TextStyle(
fontSize: 20.0,
color: Colors.white,
fontWeight: FontWeight.bold,
),
textAlign: TextAlign.center),
),
],
),
)
],
),
Container(
color: Colors.yellow,
child: Image.asset('images/walkthrough_2.png', fit: BoxFit.cover),
),
Container(
color: Colors.blueAccent,
child: Image.asset('images/walkthrough_3.png', fit: BoxFit.cover),
)
],
),
length: 3,
align: IndicatorAlign.bottom,
indicatorSpace: 5.0,
indicatorColor: Colors.white,
indicatorSelectorColor: Colors.purpleAccent,
padding: EdgeInsets.all(10.0),
),
);
}
}
And please check the screen which I am getting from the above code
Above the screen, how would I remove the white color on the right side?
I am using this library for the indicator
page_indicator: ^0.2.1
Please use below line to show image as per device width and height..Try below lines of code and let me know in case of concern
Container(
height: double.maxFinite, //// USE THIS FOR THE MATCH WIDTH AND HEIGHT
width: double.maxFinite,
child:
Image.asset('images/walkthrough_3.png', fit: BoxFit.fill),
)
I have implemented the ViewPager (PageView) functionality , by below lines of code, I am posting the answer for the other which can be helpful for the future user.
