where to locate android emulator.zip downloaded by browser? - android

Im having problems downloading Android Studio for 32 bit (AS version 3.6.3). It stopped in:
Preparing "Install Android Emulator (revision: 28.0.25)".
Downloading https://dl.google.com/android/repository/emulator-windows-5395263.zip
JavaexceptionSomething....
Then I decided to paste that url in chrome browser and it downloaded it. I have it now in download files in my laptop. I downloaded the next .zip
https://dl.google.com/android/repository/emulator-windows-5395263.zip
I want to know...where Im supposed to paste that .zip file in order to make work Android Studio? Otherwise it appears an alert
Your Android SDK is missing, out of date or corrupted.
then when trying to follow some tutorials,
Open SDK Manager > Android SDK > Edit > Next > Next... it doesnt download this same zip file. It keep me awaiting indefinitely...
Where should I paste this file in order to make Android Studio work?
thank you.

I have now successfully installed Android Studio 3.6.3 32-bit in a 32-bit Windows 10 virtual machine. Apart from needing to increase the disk-size that I had initially allocated, I had no installation problems other than that the Intel HAXM component refused to install (probably because it does not like a 32-bit system). The emulator also installed successfully, so I could not reproduce your problem. I can only think that you do not have enough disk space. In my experience, Android Studio with a couple of emulators needs several 10's GB of free space.
I suggest that you check how much free space you have and then try removing and reinstalling Android Studio.
When it comes to which emulator to use, you should use an ARM emulator and not an -86 emulator (they do not seem to work in a 32-bit environment).
I do not know how old your computer is, but you should seriously consider upgrading to a 64-bit operating system. Everything is now targeted to 64-bit architectures.

android studio times out installing the app

I have a question about running an app through the emulator on android studio.
My emulator device is able to turn on, but when running the app, install never completes so the app times out. I have tried invalidating cache and restarting, and I have installed the sdk platforms that are the same as the emulators and project, but these changes did not work. My computer cannot install emulator hypervisor driver for AMD processors or intel x86 Emulator accelerator, but I don't think it is necessary for the app to run since my emulator can turn on, right? also, any app has never successfully run on android studio.
The is no code other than the hello world that comes up automatically. This is an empty project with a minimum sdk of api: android 4.1. The device I am using is a pixel 2 with an api of 22. (size on disk 3.5 GB) for tools, I have android SDK build-tools 33, android emulator (31.3.10), and android sdk platform- tools (33.0.3) installed.
I have tried every forum that has the same issue as me but if you think there is one that can help me, please share it thanks.
Android Emulators aren't always the best so expect random failures. This is what I would try:
Make sure the app compiles properly (make sure you see BUILD SUCCESSFUL in your bottom "Build" Tab in Android Studio)
Make sure you have updated Android Studio and Android Emulator, Android Build Tools, SDKs etc.
Create and use a device with a higher API version. Ideally one with Play Store.
Depending on your development machine you might want to try a different architecture (ABI). Try x86 or x86_64 instead of what you've already tried.
In rare cases your existing emulator images get corrupted. Uninstall them in your SDK manager (Show Package Details) and install them again.
If possible try running the app on a real device (follow online instructions to enable USB debugging etc.) to verify the emulator is the problem.

Issues setting up Android Emulator in Android Studio 2.3.3

I have recently installed Android Studio 2.3.3 and Apache Cordova in order to construct cross-mobile apps. While the installation of Cordova and the main Android Studio IDE seems to have been a success, I have having issues setting up the Android Emulators.
I was unable to locate the AVD Manager.exe in the SDK folder, so I downloaded a new "AVD Manager.exe". However, when I try to open the executable I get the following message:
Failed to execute tools\android.bat:
The system cannot find the file specified.
When I do open up Android Studio I can now see the greyed AVD Manager icon, so I am not sure if I am on the right path to resolving my issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Built-in AVD is laggy and slow enough. Use Genymotion instead. It's free for personal usage.
If your computer is of minimum 8 GB ram , its OK to use AVD .or else I suggest you to use genymotion. Its free and fastest . or else its better to build apps in a physical device.

Cannot run AVD emulator in Android Studio, missing file

I have a quite big problem as accidentally removed the file, it is already removed from the bin on Mac. Now in Android Studio I cannot run emulator and I get the below message:
Can anyone help me please? What should I do now? Is there any way I can reinstall this missing file for Android studio?
Many thanks in advance!
EDIT: My problem was a missing .exe file: qemu-system-i386. I couldn't find any working solution, tried installing various images versions, was creating new emulators. I decided to uninstall Android Studio and proceed with the new installation. I used a free tool, AppCleaner, to remove the Android Studio, you can read more about this here: http://lifehacker.com/5828738/the-best-app-uninstaller-for-mac. But still had to remove manually the entire sdk tools directory. You can actually do the same from the terminal, here is the thread how to do it: How to completely uninstall Android Studio?
Anyway, the important thing it is working now! :D
1) Open the SDK manager (see the image below):
[
2) Launch the stand alone SDK manager
3) Ensure that you have downloaded and installed the SDKs and tools for Android version that you'd like to emulate. In my case I use API 25. You should also have the Intel x86 Intel Atom System images installed.
4) Then open the AVD Manager and "Create a Virtual Device"
5) Select the API level that corresponds to the one you installed in the previous steps. In the newer versions of Android Studio you can also download and install the System Image you desire in this menu.

how to get Android_Accelerated_x86 emulator?

Emulator in the image below is one of the fastest emulator in xamarin. I have 2 computers and 1 of them has this emulator somehow installed. whatever I tried and I searched all over, I cant find out how to install this emulator on my other computer. Does anybody know how do I get this emulator. something similar described here but it is not the same at all.
I have already api level 23 and intel atom(x86) for this api level installed
I have installed extras in android sdk manager as below
There are two ways of getting an x86 enabled emulator.
First is by installing the Intel HAXM emulator. To do so open Xamarin Studio click on tools and open SDK Manager. In the Extras folder you will see an entry Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator.
An even simple solution is to install Android Studio and during the installation set the SDK path to the one configured inside Xamarin Studio. The benefit is, that you can use Android Studio for stuff like memory monitoring, CPU usage and such as well as getting a better designer for your layouts.
I described it for Xamarin Studio but the steps basically applies to Visual Studio as well.
I found the answer for my question. Just for anyone who will have same interest here is the answer. I dislike xamarin android emulators in general. I used to test my app using real device rather. Advantages were,
I didnt need any virtualization whatever hassle to be installed like hyper v
They occupy a lot of space on my ssd drive
but this emulator is beautiful, fast and light. It occupies only around 700mb. I highly recommend this emulator to anyone.
It comes with VS 2017 RC installation but you dont need to install VS 2017. It is also working with VS 2015. Just download the VS 2017 installer and choose the emulator only from the list.
PS, I guess most of the xamarin presentations made by microsoft and xamarin is with this emulator :)

Getting my old version of Eclipse SDK Version: 3.6.2 up and running again?

I have written a number of simple apps for Android, but have not posted any on Android Market / Google Play for about a year or two. I recently wrote a very simple app but when I tried to post it to Google Play I get the Error:
You uploaded an APK that is not zip aligned. You will need to run a zip align tool on your APK and upload it again.
Google must have changed something while I was napping.
After a little research I found that I needed to load the latest version of Eclipse as the Export/Signing tool included in the newer versions also does this zip aligning.
This was a mistake I think.
First I tried to get the update function on the Eclipse SDK Version: 3.6.2 I had been using but this did not work. In frustration I simply loaded the latest version of the SDK off the Android site. This worked fine but the Emulator that comes with it is far too slow on my computer (MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). I tried a number of suggestions on getting a faster Emulator, none of which worked.
Since the emulator on my 3.6.2 version of Eclipse worked just fine for the simple apps I write I said well I will just use that version of Eclipse and zip align my app manually. Unfortunately, now ALL my apps on the older version of Eclipse have errors in them preventing them from working. I keep on getting the error:
[2014-05-18 22:53:56 - Focal Length] Unable to resolve target 'android-19'
This is understandable as I only have API 17 installed on this older version of Eclipse (that is as high as I could load on this version). I thought, fine I will just uninstall the latest version of Eclipse then the old one will work fine. No luck, when I uninstall the latest version of Eclipse and even use an app cleaner on my Mac I still get the same error:
[2014-05-18 22:53:56 - Focal Length] Unable to resolve target 'android-19'
Somewhere in my old Eclipse there is a pointer asking for API 19 which does not exist on my old version of Eclipse.
I would like to simply use my old version of Eclipse and zip align my app manually as outlined in on the Android site.
Can someone help me in getting my old version of Eclipse SDK Version: 3.6.2 up and running again?
either change your android target to lower version. or open up android sdk manger and install android 4.4.2 sdk.
Never found solution, tried everything, numerous suggestions from stack overflow. I could never get my apps to work on my old version of Eclipse no matter what. New version of Eclipse still too slow of Emulator. Tried running apps directly off my phone, Samsung Galaxy S3 but could not ever get Eclipse to recognize it. Tried loading and running Samsung Kies no help. Only way I could modify app was to open it on latest version of eclipse, run it, kill the run, and then email the apk file to my phone. This worked but the text was then all off. Tried to correct that also and now the new version of Eclipse has nothing but errors in it.
Final solution? Back up my Workspace files and uninstall all versions of Eclipse on my Mac along with any remnants I can find.
I will then reload the latest version of Eclipse and manually enter the code in for my app and see if that works.
Just a work of experience from an 54 year old chemical engineer that has designed almost any type of chemical plant there is (and used punch cards in college!). Even though most chemical plants are computer controlled there is always a manual OFF switch so that operators at 3 AM in the morning can shut things down safely without having to look for the "bug" in the program.
