How to remove highlighting rectangle in Android Studio? [duplicate] - android

After Android Studio upgraded itself to version Arctic Fox, I now get these strange sub-windows in my code editor that I can't get rid of. If I click in either of the 2 sub-windows (a one-line window at the top or a 5-line window underneath it (see pic below), it scrolls to the code in question and the sub-windows disappear. But as soon as I navigate away from that code, these sub-windows mysteriously reappear. I can't figure out how to get rid of this.
I restarted Studio and it seemed to go away. Then I refactored a piece of code (Extract to Method Ctrl+Alt+M) and then these windows appeared again. Sometimes these windows appear on a 2nd monitor instead of on top of the code area on the monitor with Android Studio. But eventually they end up back on top of my code editor window.
I have searched hi and low for what this is. Studio help, new features, blog, etc. I am sure that I am just using the wrong terminology to find the answer, so hoping someone else knows.

Just stumbled upon the same thing (strange windows upon attempting to refactor some code after updating to Arctic Fox). After a lot of searching around the options/menus/internet this fixed it for me:
Navigate to:
File > Settings... > Editor > Code Editing
under
Refactorings > Specify refactoring options:
select
In modal dialogs
Press OK.
Fingers crossed refactoring works.
🤞
Further step: Restart Android Studio

Android Studio layout design shows blank screen

When I try to to see the design of a layout, it shows a gray screen instead. This started happening in every project. Even the new projects that I didn't make any modifications on, so I'm sure this is not because of an error in the layout.
I'm using the lates Eel 2022.1.1 version.
I expected to see the layout design as usual but I see a blank screen.
Click on 'Split' button which is on right top corner, to toggle design and code or code with design.
If there any issue, will appear there.
Go to File -> Invalidate Cache and Restart or Clean and Re-Build Project again.
This is a common issue in the android studio there is nothing to worry about you can use these methods to see the layout.
Most probably you didn't download gradle properly or you need to wait a few minutes after the project build
ReBuild Project to clear unwanted android studio IDE errors
Open the XML file and see all tags are properly closed and there is no error.
Your PC is not Made for Android Studio LOL so please close the project and reopen it.

Android Studio mixed codes of two different Applications

I was editing 2 apps at the same time. One is a new idea, where I am doing some tests and the other one that is a stable app, that eventually needs small edits.
I do not how it happened but Android Studio mixed then. In fact, AS is saying that for some activities of the second, the code is the same as the first. On the example below, even the second being java coded, it shows it as xml.
If I look at the same file outside AS, using Wordpad, for example, the code is correct, i.e. it is the original like I did (see the picture).
I tried many things like cleaning cache, closing and opening AS, so many times, so many ways, etc. but nothing works. For days I am stuck on this issue. I tried even the function ´Compare with´ but it shows the (wrong) xml code.
Was not only this Activity that appears ´corrupted´ but others of the stable one.
Any idea?
On Left is the beginning of the real code; on Right how AS shows it
Try deleting the caches folder in .AndrroidStudio and restart Android studio.
Path :
C:\Users\username\.AndroidStudio3.6\system\caches
Sometimes it does so. I met the same issue and fix it by:
On your android studio top bar, go: File -> Invalidate Caches/Restart -> Invalidate and Restart.
I'm using android studio mac.

Android Common XML Editor opened without graphical and source on Eclipse

I have a really wired issue.
Everything worked fine yesterday, but today when I opened the Eclipse and trying to open a layout it looks like this:
As you can see there is nothing shown(Not the name of the layout, not design and graphical tabs).
I already tried the following:
To upgrade everything in the SDK manager.
To restart everything including my computer(which in most of the time fix any problem in eclipse).
Shift+Alt+F7 doesn't work.
UPDATE:
Add to done list:
Re-Open Perspective
Window>> Reset Perspective
This is my Error Log:
right click on the layout you want to open and choose
Open with >> Android Common XML Editor,
try this as well
Window>> Reset Perspective
sometime graphical layout show. but nothing showing. only blank. this is happen because the manifest minimum sdk is not support to view the layout.to resolve that change the api level which display in the right corner of layout display area.
There are 2 solutions that found:
Convert the project to Android Studio.(I don't take it because I've a complex project)
I Re-install the Eclipse.
Hope that it will help someone to save some time.

Android Studio documentation auto popup issue

I am new to Android Studio IDE. I was very accustomed to the Eclipse IDE and now everything seems hard to accomplish with Android Studio. One of the things which bothering me is the documentation auto popup in the settings. The popups are always overlapping the parameters info. which are important.
Does anybody know how to solve this or if it's possible at all to have the 2 options.
I've already tried changing the delays in the settings but the it's the same result.
Example image:
Go to File > Settings or do Ctrl+Alt+S
Under Editor > General
Uncheck Show quick documentation on mouse move

Eclipse hangs while changing properties [duplicate]

Like the question says, no mater what project i try this on, old or brand new, when I right click on the project and go to properties, then select the Android tab (I want to add a library), Eclipse freezes. I have to kill it. Has anyone run into this problem or know how I might fix it?
Thanks
EDIT:
Eclipse SDK
Version: 3.6.2
Build id: M20110210-1200
EDIT:
Or is there another way to add a library. I want to try out ActionbarSherlock :)
Ok, so I don't claim to understand it, but I've tried it more than once and confirmed it. When I'd go to the Android tab in Properties, the window automatically stretches the full height of my monitor and freezes. So, I killed it and went back in, but this time, starting on a different category ("Resource" in this case), I squashed the window height down to almost as small as it could get and clicked on Android. It worked. Didn't freeze. Then I was able to expand the window to see the list of libraries. No idea what it is, but I did it several times...recreating the freeze and then the fix. Hopefully this will save someone else...
i have found the reason ,because the list of available Android sdk is too long ,the window of the property can't be drawn immediately ,so it has no response.
the solution is open the SDK Manager ,delete the old sdk platform ,such as 1.5 1.6 3.0 3.1 3.2
those are not used usualy.then restart the eclipse .it works now .
For these kind of problems you have to try the following (in the same order) and stop when it works.
Play around inside eclipse by closing and opening project, deleting and reimporting projects etc.,
Restart eclipse
Restart system
Upgrade to the latest android SDK
Upgrade to the latest eclipse version
Usually you should stop at 2. Sometimes you need to stop at 3. Occasionally at 4 and Rarely at 5.
Good luck.
