How to create a scrollable template using fragments in Android

I am trying to achieve something like following
I am trying to build an activity joining 3 fragments. Top fragment contains a search bar (EditText), middle fragment has a Banner Slider (ViewPager), and the bottom fragment contains a GridView loaded with n number of items dynamically. I want to make the middle & bottom fragments scrollable vertically while the top one being fixed. But the Grid view is scrolling within itself while the height is set to wrap_content.
If the GridView is given a fixed height, it is working as expected. But I cannot give it a fixed height as its content is dynamically loaded.

You can take nestedScrollView outside of ViewPager and Gridview.
Set the recycler View to setNestedScrollingEnable(false).

Try using `Constraint Layout` for whole layout, `autocomplete text view` for search bar, `viewpager` for banners, recycler view for showing the loaded items.

Set your layout manager as Gridlayout manager for recycler view as below:
recyclerview.layoutManager = GridLayoutManager(this, 2, OrientationHelper.VERTICAL, false)

How to add a button and overlay it on my Google map fragment

So I have myself a GoogleMap using my API key. I'm able to find my location, but when opened the app does not have any buttons. If I try to click and drag any buttons in via the android design layout, it doesn't allow this.
This is what my activity_maps.xml looks like:

I am aware of ConstraintLayout and FrameLayout, but when adding additional code I just get 'multiple roots error'and have been unable to achieve what I am looking for.
Could anyone help me out?

Maybe a simpler solution is to set an overlay in front of your map using FrameLayoutor RelativeLayoutand treating them as regular buttons in your activity. You should declare your layers in back to front order, e.g., map before buttons, Try the following layout and see if it works for you

You have to wrap your fragment with FrameLayout, LinearLayout, RelativeLayout or ConstraintLayout and then set additional buttons.

In this configuration the ListView is only shown with a height of one of it's rows instead several rows utilizing the available space. The ListView works fine but only one row at a time is displayed.
The same ListView fragment works fine when I put it into a 2-pane landscape layout. How can I make the ListView use the available space ?
Edit:
Found a partial solution by switching to a LinearLayout within the ScrollView. Only problem left is, that the bottom Framelayout overlays a bit of the top FrameLayout when I load the said fragment into it. But that is acceptable in this case as it is only temporary to select some data.

android layout issue with framelayout

I'm trying to add the image view but when I do it has so much space between the top and bottom of the image. I'm using a bottom navigation with fragments. I would like to make the image close to the top with the space. What am I doing wrong with this layout?

Looks like by adding the following it removed the spacing that was there.
android:adjustViewBounds="true"

Listview Upper Bounds and Lower Bounds do not interact when the user reaches the limits

My listview is in a scrollable view, when I reach the Upper bound limit or the lower bound limit the listview doesn't show the blue circle from the bounds. How can I make the layout shows it?
After adding the overScrollMode=Always still it is not working, This Layout is added in the ScrollingActivity sample provided by Android.

This is called "over-scroll".
You can change the over-scroll mode via XML:
android:overScrollMode="always"
Or via Java:
setOverScrollMode(OVER_SCROLL_ALWAYS);
