My laptop crashed while android studio was running (probably due to some corrupted files). I reinstalled the windows and installed android studio again , but when I tried to load my previous project , it only says Gradle project sync in progress and remains in the same state. I have
tried to open a new project but same goes for it.
This problem could be related to build.gradle file. Please, try this solution by #vijay_t. Also try to disable android studio plugins.

I am working on Android studio 4.1.1. Everything was working correctly and smoothly. Suddenly I do not know what happened so that the Android studio can not open any of my projects, not access the Java file (e.g. Main activity, and other classes). It is like freezing and can not open any code file. The below pic show the problem.
I tried to invalidate the cache and restart Android studio several times, but not working. I searched and found threads talking about "Uninstalling fabric plugin from the android studio". However, I can not uninstall the fabric plugin because the "File/ settings" tab of android studio is not working and I do not know how exactly I can uninstall it.
Android Studio cannot open a project

Can anyone help me to fix this, please?
I solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the Android Studio platform (updated it from version 4.1.1 to Artic Fox| 2020.3.1 Patch 3) and then disabled some unnecessary plugins. Now it works fine.
Today I got my new Macbook and installed Android Studio. When I tried to open my Kotlin project, everything works perfectly but the Android project view is loading forever.
I created a new sample project and it loads correctly. I also have this project on a Win laptop and it loads fine too.
Does anyone have an idea why and how to fix this?
If you have just copied and pasted the project from your windows machine, you should expect some undefined behavior like this. Because there are some files included into the project specifically for windows OS. You should use git instead of copy pasting things. Or if you rather not at this point,
How to transfer an Android Studio Project from Windows to Mac OS X? Here is the files you need to delete to make things working on your mac.
SOLVED: I just uninstall the 4.1.3 version and use the beta version 4.2 rc1 and the problem is fixed.
Please delete
.idea
.gradle
files from project and then open project again.
from a week I was updated my Android Studio version to stable version 4.0.0 then I am started getting this errors in my studio and unable to build the app.
Unable to save plugin settings: The plugin org.jetbrains.android failed to save settings and has been disabled. Please restart Android Studio
But I forcefully enabled all plugins in my Studio by going to File-->Settings-->Plugins --> All are enabled.
Select Embedded JDK in Android Studio
Try that:
delete the .idea folder in the android project folder where you faced this problem.
Close Android Studio. Now navigate to your projects .idea folder and rename the workspace.xml file to workspace-o.xml and delete a workspace.xml~ if it exists (i.e., AS has a corrupt workspace layout file).
This should fix the problem. Restart AS and configure the workspace back they way you like it (i.e., it will start with a simple view: View/Tools Windows/Project etc.).
I started my first project in Android Studio and my answer may not be the correct one. I ran into this problem during building the My Activity project. It always came back with this error asking me to restart. Finally I thought that the controlled folder file access is preventing me. I temporarily switched-off the protection(against Ransomware in Windows 10) and tried the Build. I stopped getting these messages. But, I have other problems I am looking into.
I deleted the .idea folder and then I invalidated the cache (file-> invalidate Cache/Restart)
This fixed my issue.
I recently updated from Android Studio 2.0 to 2.1.2 and now I have a project which doesn't open. Android Studio is stuck at the following screen for more than 10-15min.
I tried solutions from these answers.[ans1] [ans2]
but none of them work.
I can create new projects and also import projects built on eclipse. But cannot open my own project.
Please help.
Delete the gradle folder in the project folder. It will work.
For many problems such as stuck with opening or downloading something while starting
I use this sequence as an ultimate guide and on one of the steps always works out.
Recently I used it after updating to 3.2
Try File -> Invalidate caches / Restart
Shutdown Android Studio
Remove .gradle folder in the user home directory
Start Android Studio (Studio will download gradle data)
After Gradle build is done, rebuild project
According to Android Studio's Known Issues https://developer.android.com/studio/known-issues under "Configuration on demand with Gradle 4.6 and above:", if you are using Android Gradle Plugin 3.0.x or 3.1.x with Gradle 4.6 and above you should add the following line to gradle.properties:
org.gradle.configureondemand = false
This seemed to solve my issue with Android Studio getting stuck at "Project setup: reading from cache".
I accidentally deleted some gradle files from where i Android studio is installed. I was following this tutorial to resolve another issue but it now even deleted some gradle files i cant even create a new project in Android studio. And cant build run or do anything. When i start android studio it shows me this error in following image:
If i open plugin manager it shows android support, cloud disabled like in this image:
In settings build tools it not does show gradle:
And in module settings it shows this:
Please someone guide me in this. I cant reinstall android studio, sdk and everything again as I have done many settings(installed plugins and git configs etc) in studio, so reinstalling everything is not an option. Any help?
One non-technical solution is to install another instance of Android Studio at different location on your system. You can then compare the directories of where where you deleted the files and copy over the files that are not there in your original installation.
