I'm currently trying to build a hello world app as my first android auto app. Earlier, when I was trying to run the app it was giving me some minSdk error and I managed to fix that. Now, when I try to run it, it gives me this error:
Manifest merger failed : Attribute meta-data#androidx.car.app.CarAppMetadataHolderService.CAR_HARDWARE_MANAGER#value value=(androidx.car.app.hardware.ProjectedCarHardwareManager) from [androidx.car.app:app-projected:1.1.0] AndroidManifest.xml:34:17-86
is also present at [androidx.car.app:app-automotive:1.1.0] AndroidManifest.xml:44:17-87 value=(androidx.car.app.hardware.AutomotiveCarHardwareManager).
Suggestion: add 'tools:replace="android:value"' to <meta-data> element at AndroidManifest.xml to override.
I've been trying to follow the instructions here on how to edit the manifest file and everything looks fine according to the instructions.
Here's the AndroidManifest.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
package="com.smartherd.helloworld">

android:required="true" />

</intent-filter>
</service>
<meta-data
android:name="androidx.car.app.minCarApiLevel"
android:value="1"/>
</application>
</manifest>
Build.gradle:
plugins {
id 'com.android.application'
id 'org.jetbrains.kotlin.android'
}
android {
compileSdk 32
defaultConfig {
applicationId "com.smartherd.helloworld"
minSdk 29

}

}

}
}
dependencies {

Since you are targeting Android Automotive in your manifest, you can get rid of the following dependency in your gradle file:
implementation("androidx.car.app:app-projected:1.1.0")
That should fix the conflict you are having.
Hi all I'm making an app that will use google maps api but my emulator keeps saying that google maps is not supported by my device even though my emulator is a google pixel which means it should support google maps.
I added my API key to the local.properties file
`
sdk.dir=C\:\\Users\\User\\AppData\\Local\\Android\\Sdk
MAPS_API_KEY=API_KEY
`
And added the following code to the dependencies element in my project level build.gradle
uildscript{
dependencies {
classpath"com.google.android.libraries.mapsplatform.secrets-gradle-plugin:secrets-gradle-plugin:2.0.0"
}
}
plugins {

id 'com.android.library' version '7.1.1' apply false
id 'com.google.android.libraries.mapsplatform.secrets-gradle-plugin' version '2.0.0' apply false
}
task clean(type: Delete) {
delete rootProject.buildDir
}
And the specified code in android docs is present in my module level build.gradle file under plugins
plugins {
id 'com.android.application'
id 'com.google.android.libraries.mapsplatform.secrets-gradle-plugin'
}
android {

}
}
compileOptions {

targetCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
}

}
}

and updated my android:value attribute as follows in AndroidManifest.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="org.me.gcu.labstuff.androidcwk">

i am trying to add a local .aar from an android library in Unity. Currently it is a very basic project, in unity there is just one script that opens the activity from android library on a button click.
I manually added the .aar in the /plugins/android folder (I am using 2019.4 version), and on build I keep getting the error that a resource is not found (Theme.AppCompat.Light.NoActionBar' not found in AndroidManifest)
.
This are my graddle config & AndroidManifest:

I am a newbie when it comes to mobile development, but I think the issue is that the dependencies from build.graddle are not included in the .aar.
I think my options are to either create a fat .aar , manually download dependencies .aar's or to publish .aar to a central repository. Am I on the right track?
Any help is more than appriciated
I manage to get over the error by adding a custom graddle template to the unity project.
I'm just getting into the field of Android development and I need to run my project for the first time in order to continue my learning process.
Unfortunately my computer is'nt powerful enough to run an AVD and every time I try to debug it with my phone I get this error message:
A problem was found with the configuration of task ':app:processDebugManifest'
(type' ProcessMultiApkApplicationManifest').
File 'E:\android\app\build\intermediates\merged_manifest\debug\out\AndroidManifest.xml' specified for
property 'mainMergedManifest' does not exist.
General Information:
I'm trying to debug a brand new project using my Galaxy A 70 (running Android 10). If necessary I would be happy to provide any additional information (to the best of my ability) regarding the project, the specifications of my phone or computer, etc.
build.gradle of app module:
plugins {
id 'com.android.application'
}
android {
compileSdkVersion 29
defaultConfig {
applicationId "com.example.myapplication"
minSdkVersion 18
targetSdkVersion 29
versionCode 1
versionName "1.0"
testInstrumentationRunner "androidx.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
}
buildTypes {
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android-optimize.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
compileOptions {
sourceCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
targetCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8
}
}
dependencies {
implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.2.0'
implementation 'com.google.android.material:material:1.3.0'
implementation 'androidx.constraintlayout:constraintlayout:2.0.4'
testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.+'
androidTestImplementation 'androidx.test.ext:junit:1.1.2'
androidTestImplementation 'androidx.test.espresso:espresso-core:3.3.0'
}
AndroidManifest.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<application
android:allowBackup="true"
android:icon="#mipmap/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:roundIcon="#mipmap/ic_launcher_round"
android:supportsRtl="true"
android:theme="#style/Theme.MyApplication">
<activity android:name=".MainActivity">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
</application>
I would be very grateful for any help regarding this problem.
Thanks in advance
Perry
You need a debug build type that is set to debuggable true
Add this to your buildTypes in build.gradel
buildTypes {
debug {
debuggable true
}
release {
minifyEnabled false
proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android-optimize.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
}
}
Then run gradle sync. , and in the build variants select the debug configuration, and then you'll be able to debug your app
